Swindon SGO Area

Swindon SGO Area logo
Hi, I'm Andy the School Games Organiser for Swindon (and Wootton Bassett /Purton /Cricklade etc).

In addition to the School Games role, I also work with Fortius PE and through this offer a wide range of complimentary programmes, CPD opportunities and other events in order to ensure we are providing something for everyone! More info on www.fortiuspe.co.uk

Clearly this is a difficult period for all of us and we appreciate how challenging it is to keep pupils on track when home-schooling.

We have been working hard to ensure there are a number of exciting and engaging opportunities to keep pupils enjoying some PE and sport at home. Has there ever been a more important time to stay physically active?

How do I get involved?

  1. Download the TopYa! Active app from the App Store or Google Play
  2. Create your Player (child) account
  3. When prompted to enter an Invite Code enter 23880 and then choose Primary or Secondary School League based on which type of school you attend

Jungle Agility (for KS1)

We have 6 cards with different challenges for pupils in KS1. These activities were developed for pupils to practice at home and include a variety of simple multi-skill activities.

Inclusion Support

PE is a subject that every pupil should enjoy and be fully engaged. In Wiltshire we have a County Inclusion Officer with a wealth of knowledge and experience. Rachel supports the county School Games programme with CPD, leaders training and inclusive competitions and events.

I have uploaded some excellent activity sheets that Rachel has put together.

Rachel is also happy for schools to contact her for advice and guidance about their own PE and School sport programmes. She can be contacted via:  [email protected]

There are a couple of great online inclusive CPD opportunities from the YST :

1)TOPSportsability (Code : YSTINCLUSION48) 2) All About Autism, All About Me (E-learning- 3 modules)

Wiltshire & Swindon 'VIRTUAL' School Games

We are pleased to introduce the inaugural ‘Virtual’ Wiltshire  & Swindon School Games.

Every Monday morning from June 1 - June 29, 2 sporting challenges will be released on the below website. Throughout the week your students can practice, train and improve, before submitting a film of them completing each challenge to [email protected] by Friday 3pm of that week.

There will be age categories including an opportunity for teachers and parents to take part.

As well as individual winners there will be a winning primary and secondary school for each challenge based on the average points/time accumulated across all your participants. There will also be a Spirit of the Games Award for the most creative way of completing the challenge, for example if the usual equipment is not available.

The winners will be announced and celebrated on July 8th. Further information can be found on our website from Monday 27th April:
