Up the middle is a fun Softball activity where pupils attempt to hit the ball off the tee 'up the middle' of the softball diamond to develop batting accuracy.
- Number of participants: Group
- Purpose of activity: Increase pupil physical activity through team competition
- Including all pupils: STEP framework included
- Pupil roles: Participant, official
- Space: Outdoors. Ensure the space is suitable for a softball diamond, including safety areas for the pupils waiting to bat
- Equipment: Three bases, one tee, one bat, cones, throw-down lines, softball or tennis ball and softball fielders gloves if available
