Activity details

Up the middle is a fun Softball activity where pupils attempt to hit the ball off the tee 'up the middle' of the softball diamond to develop batting accuracy. 

  • Number of participants: Group 
  • Purpose of activity: Increase pupil physical activity through team competition 
  • Including all pupils: STEP framework included 
  • Pupil roles: Participant, official 
  • Space: Outdoors. Ensure the space is suitable for a softball diamond, including safety areas for the pupils waiting to bat 
  • Equipment: Three bases, one tee, one bat, cones, throw-down lines, softball or tennis ball and softball fielders gloves if available
