Schools compete against other schools in a physical activity and try to complete the challenge in as little time as possible/ with the highest score. Each of the schools will get pupils to do the same activity over the time period and record scores accordingly. Schools will submit a result to a central recipient. The school with the most points at the end of the week, are deemed as the winners for that activity but all those who enter will gain points in the overall standings. These points will contribute towards an overall table to eventually declare an ‘In School Inter School Cup’ winner. Scores and participation entrant details will be extracted from a google form attached to each challenge. Each week will have a new challenge for different age groups for schools to enter and complete in.

World Book Day X PE & School Sport
World Book Day is on Thursday 4th March...what does that have to do with School Games I hear you say? PE & School Sport offers many cross curricular links. From PE lessons of all Key Stages, to grassroots clubs of different sports, all the way to elite level athletes and their coaches, literacy and numeracy skills are utilised to a greater or lesser degree. This gives teachers the opportunity to incorporate the development of these skills into their physical education lessons. Literacy in the curriculum is comprised of four aspects: Listening, Writing, Reading and Speaking. Two of these components are widely known as important in sport: listening and speaking. They are both crucial to teamwork, communication and therefore success in a sporting context. Reading and writing to those who are unaware of the importance of literacy in sport may be seen as not involved in Physical Education and sport. However, all four of those components can be covered in a team talk alone and for the athletes to be able to understand and correctly interpret the information been given can be the difference between success and failure. (PE Blog)
