We're excited to announce that Youth Sport Trust annual National School Sports Week campaign is back for 2023, running from Monday 19 to Sunday 25 June. This year, it's partnering with Sports Direct to encourage kids all over the UK to "play for fun, play for 60" and make sure they get the Chief Medical Officer's recommended minimum of 60 minutes of physical activity every day.
Did you know that less than half of UK children are active for a full hour every day? Shockingly, over 2.2 million kids get less than 30 minutes of exercise per day. But we can change that! By taking the #PledgeToPlay for 60 minutes a day during this year's campaign, you can help us create a happier and healthier future for our children.
As a thank you for pledging, you'll get access to resources that will help and inspire you, including video case studies, advice, and tips on how to get young people active. We'd love it if you shared your #PledgeToPlay on social media to encourage others to take part, too - be sure to tag YST! @YouthSportTrust #NSSW2023 #PledgeToPlay #PlayforFunPlayfor60
Also, if you have children aged 7-11, you can ask their school to register them for Sport Direct's Sports Slam - a five-day program filled with fun physical activities and active learning lesson plans. Plus, 2,300 lucky schools will WIN a bumper Sports Slam equipment pack full of sporty goodies to revamp their PE departments. Don't miss out - register for Sports Slam today!
Pass it on to your child's school and community, and help us create a happier, healthier future for all our kids.
