Step Into Sport Youth Leadership

Step into Sport Youth Leadership Camps focus on the development of leadership skills in young people, with an increased emphasis on further training and deployment opportunities in workforce specific roles. There are two delivery approaches for Step into Sport this year. Please find summaries of the approaches below along with links to all the content and support material you will need. You can choose between the two or deliver both if you see the benefit. In Dorset we have a clear objective of making sure those who complete the programme have opportunities once they have completed the courses. This might be through leading in your own school, within the School Games or by linking into community clubs and volunteering. Please keep us informed when leaders have completed the training. The options are outlined below:

Step Into Sport Youth Leadership

Option One.

Step into Sport at Home.

Young people can access 4 modules which are complemented by pre recorded films. They will follow the programme in their own time (or if you wish through online PE lessons) and complete the provided workbook as they go along. At the end of the course you will be able to issue each participant with a certificate as well as letting us know so we can recognise their achievement.

Click here access the Step into Sport at home resource.

Option Two.

Step Into Sport in School.

Ideal for schools to deliver as part of Bubble PE sessions for key worker or identified groups. You can work through the resource in your own time within lessons or in small groups to deliver each module. The same four modules are covered with pre recorded films and activities suitable for the current environment. There are practical tips on how to keep the lessons Covid safe alongside the certificate which you can issue upon completion of the course.

For both courses we plan to celebrate each individual achievement in the summer term as part of a celebration day through the School Games network as well as providing the exit routes into the Dorset School Games leadership programme. Please keep us up to date with how many young people have been through the training and we will then provide certificates for you.
